8-14 Feb is time to get involved with practical and educational events and activities to cut our CO2 by 10% in 2010. There’ll be something for everyone with groundbreaking and beautiful films (Home, Age of Stupid), prolific speakers (Our Global Challenges, Hopenhagen or Brokenhagen?), hands-on workshops to learn how to grow food (Allotment Winter Wonderland) and cook it (Cabbage Cruité Ambassador?), mend your clothes (DIY Fair) and mend your bike (Bike Doctor), and plenty of time to have fun (Alleycat) and fall in love (Carbon Speed Dating)!The week is organised by Transition Edinburgh University, the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh University Students Association, and People & Planet Society with support from Allotment and Permaculture Society, Cooperative Society, Fair Trade Café Society, Young Greens Society, World Development Movement-Scotland, Napier Conservation Society, and Transition Edinburgh College of Art.
10:10 Week is part of a national week of action in UK unis and colleges, “Go Green Week“, supported by People & Planet UK and the National Union of Students.
Monday 8th February
- Launching the week at 11.45am outside Teviot Row House, Bristo Square. (Organised by Transition Edinburgh University)
- Back to the Future: How old will you be in 2050? Workshop, 12-5pm, Dining Room, Teviot Row House, Bristo Square, with free food and drink. (Organised by Transition Edinburgh University)
- ‘The Yes Men’ Film Showing, inspirational documentary about two anti-corporate activists with a different take on awareness raising. Cake and discussion about green activities at ECA included. 6pm, Wee Red Lounge, Edinburgh College of Art. (Organised by Transition Edinburgh College of Art)
- Hopenhagen or Brokenhagen? Student Witnesses to the UN Climate Talks, talk, 7-9pm, Chaplaincy Auditorium, Bristo Square. (Organised by Edinburgh University People & Planet)
Tuesday 9th February
- Climb the Green Ladder: make your company and career more sustainable. Talk from Amy Fetzer, freelance journalist, author and consultant specialising in sustainability. 1pm, 302/Seminar Room, Crewe Building, King’s Buildings. (Organised by the Centre for Environmental Change and Sustainability)
