There’s no better time to enjoy sleeping alongside nature than during summer. The Scottish scenery makes camping ideal.

If for whatever reason you have decided to spend your summer holiday in Edinburgh you might want to consider going out on a camping trip. It’s easy, fun, quite healthy and saves a lot of energy as well as money. You get to enjoy fresh air, look at the stars, spend time with friends, eat delicious meals, sing camping songs and make the best of your summer holiday.

You could start somewhere close like Holyrood and enjoy both the sunset and the sunrise from the Crags. And once you start to get the hang of it, look up other destinations by the sea or higher up in the Highlands.

If you are short of ideas, not to worry – there are plenty of resources on line to find the best camping sites around. If you don’t like spending too much time looking up on your own, you could just sign up to Visit Scotland newsletter and receive their holiday suggestions.

One more thing, if you do go out camping and decide to have barbecues as well here are a few sustainable tips: look for sustainable reusable charcoal, buy your food locally and make sure to save or distribute the leftovers and compost the food scraps after cooking.

Now grab a tent, and find a nice place to go!
