Whether it’s the Meadows, the Crags, Princess Street Gardens or the lovely Portobello Beach, Edinburgh has so much to offer in terms of picninc locations. You just need to call your friends, set the date, fill the picninc basket and pick your spot.
You don’t want to leave things behind so make sure, when you pack your picnic basket, to get reusable cutlery and cups, and cloth napkins.
As for what you’ll be eating, well that’s the beauty of the season: fresh fruit and vegetables waiting for you to use your imagination and combine them in savoury salads or tasty sandwiches. There’s nothing healthier than raw vitamin injected veggies. And the beauty of it is that you don’t need a big budget.
Just to get you started, or even get you to think about going out on a picnic, here’s a yummy season salad recipe with tomato, melon and cucumber. Add to it a crispy baguette, some butter, a bottle of wine and you’ve got yourself a nice outdoor brunch.
