written by Irina Nedelcu on August 5, 2010There’s still one month of summer left and plenty of festivals to go to. Why not look into the cheapest as well as carbon cutting solutions to make the best of your festival experience?
Most of the big UK festivals have joined the 10:10 initiative and came up with energy saving/carbon emissions cutting alternatives for this year’s edition. Still, festival goers need to do their bit as well. I must admit I was a little disappointed with the way T in The Park looked on the third day of the festival.
Here’s a few useful tips and links that turn the festival experience into a cleaner more pleasant one.
Most festivals have recycling facilities for bottles, cans and paper. It’s also a good idea to take a few bin liners to collect rubbish round your tent. The bottle refill routine is extremely useful as well as money saving when you’re attending a festival. There’s no need to spend money on buying bottles of water when you could easily refill your bottle from the water taps located round the festival site.
Where energy is concerned, why spend money on batteries when there are so many wind-up gadgets available? Take your pick from: The trusty wind-up light, The fantastic two-in-one phone charger, Music to our ears and enjoy a battery-hassle-free camping experience. Furthermore, if you’re lucky to attend a sun-filled festival, there are plenty solar energy powered gadgets you can chose from the Solar Gadget Store.
If you’re not camping, you’ll probably need to ‘eat out’ – be on the look for local or organic products. My festival experience with these has been amazing cost and taste wise.
