Time to get a short break from all the Fringe bustle!

Edinburgh in August becomes a bit crowded. It serves well to know some alternative paths around the city. To find your way quickly through the dense touristic mass. Especially if you own, or could borrow a bike.

Transition Edinburgh University came up with The Great Escape:  a 4 hour getaway from the Festival commotion in the form of a laid back cruise to discover alternative paths around the city. There are in fact multiple pay-offs. Aside from expanding your Edinburgh cycle path knowledge and escaping the busy mid-August Festival madness – while getting some exercise and meeting new people – there’s a fantastic community  garden waiting at other end, perfect for a hearty picnic lunch.

Join us for the Bike Tour and picnic on Thursday 19th August, from 10am-2pm. Meeting point at the Main Library in George Square.

You don’t need to be a very experienced cyclist. We’ll mainly be off-road on  smooth paths. All you need is a bike (good footwear, waterproofs, water) and  some energy :-)

The Great Escape is open to all staff and students.
