Edinburgh Sustainability Week and Awards – a new name for Our Impact
written by Ric Lander on

Dear all,
As you know, 23-31 October is Edinburgh University’s week of awareness and action on health, development, environment and social justice. The week already includes 37 events organised by over 20 student, staff and external organisations, and more groups are taking part every day (http://bit.ly/impact_week2).
Last week University the event was discussed at Central Management Group and they felt it would potentially confuse researchers if the term “impact” was used widely at Edinburgh due to its specific use by the Research Councils to mean the total impact of research on society (http://framework.rcuk.ac.uk/).
Because of this, the week and the awards will now be known as:
- Edinburgh Sustainability Week
- Edinburgh Sustainability Awards
