This is a great incentive for landlords to start acting now to make their properties more energy efficient - helping you to keep your bills as low as possible and and reducing your carbon footprint.

For guidance on how your landlord can claim, please visit the Energy Saving Trust information pages.

Chutney-making and winter food preservation workshop

written by Rosie Sullivan on November 22, 2010

The final food skills workshop of the season!

Monday 29th November: 2-5pm

@the Grassmarket Community Centre, 86 Candlemaker Row

In a bit of a pickle? Well…

This final workshop of the season deals with Chutney and other winter food preservation techniques. We’ll be transforming lots of lovely Autumn produce into delicious chutney over the space of an afternoon, and whilst its bubbling away we’ll learn more about simple preservation techniques such as salting, pickling, drying and fermentation. We’ll also be making some apple rings to dry.

All welcome – to attend please RSVP here

And finally, a quick chutney related limerick for you….
“There was an Old Person of Putney,
Whose food was roast spiders and chutney,
Which he took with his tea,
within sight of the sea,
That romantic Old Person of Putney.”
Edward Lear, English artist, writer; known for his ‘literary nonsense’ & limericks  (1812-1888)
