written by Irina Nedelcu on December 8, 2010People & Planet held the first ever Going Greener Awards to showcase the innovative, practical grassroots projects and awareness-raising events students have been working on all over the UK.
There were five categories as part of the Awards for: promoting low carbon diets, Transition Travel, Zero Waste, Transition Energy and the award for Awareness-raising and Transition Edinburgh University has won three of the categories – travel, energy and awareness.
The Fair Travel Pledge gained recognition for it’s impact and goals to change travel behavior as well as to provide low carbon alternatives to flying through the Infrequent Flyer’s pocket companion that accompanies the pledge.
Big Green Makeover – possibly the most popular of Transition Edinburgh University’s programmes in terms of sign ups – was among the winners of the Transition Energy category.
And last but not least, the Awareness-raising section has among its winners our Transition Tips that we’ve been sending out to students on a regular basis together with the chart that helps track the progress of one’s carbon footprint.
Details on the awards as well as the winners of the other categories can be found here. Congratulations to all!
