Artists Communicating Our Environmental Future
Local artists and those working in environmental media kick start a discussion about how the arts can respond to and can inspire action on global issues. This event is sold out.6.20pm, Appleton Tower Foyer.

MAIN EVENT: Hard Rain with photographer Mark Edwards and panelMark Edwards, creator of the ‘Hard Rain’ photography exhibition (pictured), presents his exhibition and reflects on his work as a photographer communicating the impact of climate change.
A specially invited panel will show us what Hard Rain means for us at Edinburgh.

Facing Up to Climate Change, 20 May 2010

Royal Society of Edinburgh Meeting, Report by Kat Baird
This was a public enquiry meeting into the effects of climate change and possible responses organised by the Royal Society of Edinburgh with open input from members of the public. There was a five member panel and the public contributed by electrically voting on certain questions and asking the panel questions. The evening was introduced with the themes of what policies were needed verses what would be acceptable to the public and looked at merging the agenda of energy security, stewardship of resourses and importance of the local community. There was a four member panel including David Reay a senior lecturer from the University of Edinburgh’s carbon management Msc.
