Everyone at the University of Edinburgh is invited to complete this survey to receive an estimate of your carbon footprint. This will help us establish the total carbon footprint of all students and staff at the University.
If you live in Accommodation Services residences, we shall provide your energy footprint from meter readings. Otherwise, please gather electricity and / or gas bills to estimate fuel usage in the home.
It should take approximately 10-15 minutes and you could win £100 worth of vouchers!
Transition Handprint Social: Keeping Our Homes Warm in a Low CO2 World

Right now, pollution is changing our climate and cheap oil is running out. How can we warm our buildings without warming the climate?
Thought provoking bite-size presentations including Dr. Claire Haggett, Councillor Maggie Chapman, and David Somervell, University Sustainability Advisor. Followed by drinks and sandwiches.

- Making Micro-generation Effective - Dr. Claire Haggett. What effect does installing micro-generation in homes have on resident’s energy consumption?

- Combined Heat and Power at Edinburgh University – David Somervell, University Sustainability Advisor. George Square, Pollock Halls, and Kings Buildings are powered by Edinburgh University’s own power plants.

UPDATE - We’ve updated this page to answer some of the questions everyone’s been asking.
Transition Edinburgh University seeks to recruit current students or recent graduates of the University as Paid Interns to work for varying lengths of time up to March 2011. Time arrangements can be flexible, and positions can take place during term time and/or in the summer.
Based at 5 Forrest Hill alongside 6 project staff, all positions are part-time, approx 12 hours/week at £8.17/hr plus expenses.
An exciting project for cutting personal carbon emissions and building resilience in the University community.

University of Edinburgh Students and Staff Unveil Ambitious New Environmental Plan

Students and staff at the University of Edinburgh have pledged to cut their carbon emissions by 10% this year.
“10:10 Week” – a series of events centred around the 10:10 campaign – closed with the unveiling of a three metre wide 10:10 sign made out of recycled aluminium from a scrapped Boeing 747 named “The City of Edinburgh”.
