Train as a Facilitator
A cascading scheme
The Carbon Conversations run as a ‘cascading scheme’ – those that have been part of a group can go on to train to facilitate their own groups after attending a free facilitator training. You don’t have to have any particular skills or qualification to be a Carbon Conversations facilitator – all are welcome! You will however need to be passionate about facilitating change in your community, and recognise the benefits of doing so through a values-based, emotions based course, like the Carbon Conversations.
Commitment
Becoming a Carbon Conversations facilitator is a deep personal and professional skills development opportunity. The position will require you to attend all essential training sessions, and to commit at least 4 hours per week to prepare for leading sessions and develop your self-awareness and group skills. We are encouraging individuals who are eager to actively engage with the learning and process involved in becoming a good group facilitator to apply for this opportunity. As a voluntary facilitator you will be supported by the UK, Scottish and Edinburgh Carbon Conversations networks to develop your facilitation skills, mentoring and run your first group here at the University. We will ask you to feedback on the first group you facilitate to become a accredited Voluntary Facilitator.
Please register your interest below in becoming a trained voluntary facilitator. Our volunteers will get back to you with more details of the next training opportunity.
