Local, organic VegBag sales
Every Thursday a group of volunteers at the University of Edinburgh run a stall selling beautiful local, organic produce to students and staff and passers-by alike. All the vegetables in our bags are organically grown in the UK, and many just down the road at the fantastic Whitmuir farm. Whitmuir delivers a mountain of veggies to us on Thursday mornings and then volunteers lovingly sort them into bags, deliver them to the stall via our home-made bicycle trailer, and man the stall so you get an amazing bag of affordable local and organic vegetables on your way back from University!
The bags
We currently sell small £2.50 bags, and larger bags for £4.50.
We sell veg bags on Thursdays, 2-5pm (or till we run out) at:
Kings Buildings on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month – our stall is by the shuttle bus bus-stop, opposite the SAC.
George Square on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays – our stall is outside the Main Library, George Square.
The volunteers
As delicious as the vegetables themselves, this project is run and developed by volunteers. We are always looking for volunteers to help pack bags, sell at the stall, transport the veg in our homemade bike trailer, and to help us organise stuff. There are small and large roles to fit how much time you’ve got to donate…
See the EUSA Volunteer Shop for more details on the roles
