Outreach

Beyond Edinburgh University

We want to see our work copied in similar and near-by commmunities.

In March 2010 we are working with NUS Scotland and People & Planet on the  “University Footprints: Community Handprints” event, open to all.  Click the link for more details.

We have helped students and staff other Universities develop their own CO2-cutting ideas, including at the University of St. Andrews, Edinburgh College of Art, Edinburgh Napier University, and the University of Aberdeen.

We have developed and borrowed a number of workshops and resources tailored for University groups, including our extensive Footprints and Handprints report.

We have presented our project at various conferences, indlucing Shared Planet in November 2009 (pictured).

We deliver our outreach as part of People & Planet’s “Going Greener: Transition Universities” campaign, which is encouraging volunteer groups at Universities to plan for energy descent.  We also work closely with the National Union of Students Scotland, whose Student Footprints project is encouraging similar work at colleges and universities in Scotland.

We are also planning to run an event to join city community groups to the University, and work with local schools.

All of this is done with both students, University staff, and the Transition Project staff.  We love more help, so if it sounds interesting, why not come along to our next Outreach working group meeting?
