Zero waste
The University estate prides itself on a very high recycling rate (63% in 2008/9) and plenty of information about recycling is available from the University. EUSA is committed to working towards ‘zero waste’ in all the unions.
Recycling at the University of Edinburgh
In University accommodation, recycling facilities are widely available. In Pollock you can find bins in every pantry and in self-catered flats you should have packaging, paper and glass banks on-site or on a nearby street. Each flats is also provided with a green bin to collect recyclable waste and carry it to the banks. However, waste is a much broader issue than just recycling what you can. What would your vision of a zero-waste future be? How can we reduce our use of limited resources in the first place?
We will look at innovative and creative ways to reduce and reuse goods in our University community by sharing, swapping and learning new skills.
